Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh, Friday 4 March 2022
In person and online
Hear directly from people with lived experience of transitions, and their allies, about what matters most in the move to young adult life
Hear our Voices, Respect our Choices is put together and presented by young people, parents and carers in Scotland with a passion for ensuring young people with additional support needs have a positive experience of transition to young adult life.
Speakers include Clare Haughey MSP, Minister for Children and Young People; Niko Sadlowski, parent and blogger; Pam Duncan-Glancy MSP; Bruce Adamson, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland; ARC Scotland’s young leaders team, the Divergent Influencers; and young people, parents and carers from across Scotland.
It’s a chance for parents and professionals from all sectors to hear young people, parents and carers explore:
- What “a good transition” looks and feels like
- How we can get it right for everyone – whoever they are
- How young people and their families can best prepare for the future
- How to support all young people to “live their best life”
The day is facilitated by the Divergent Influencers and ARC Scotland’s Parent and Carer Network, with support from ARC Scotland. The topics are from Experiences of Young People with Additional Needs Leaving School, a consultation by the Divergent Influencers among young people across Scotland published in November 2021.
